A Letter to Parents from our Chapter President, Blythe Best
Dear parent of a past/present/future Alpha Delta Pi women,
Being the girl who never wanted to join a sorority, I can understand any questions you have concerning sorority life, Greek life, and life as an ADPi woman. Before I came to Methodist University and went through recruitment, I did not have a great idea of what sorority life was. I was very hesitant about going through recruitment, but my freshman year roommate talked me into it and after going through, I knew that sorority life was nothing like I had assumed. ADPi provides friendship, a support system, and a Christian womanhood. ADPi has given me the best friends I could ask for, girls who are here for me through everything that life brings, and a support system like none other. Alpha Delta Pi, the first sorority, was founded in 1851 by six women who had a vision to create a community for women in college.
Going through recruitment, I was immediately welcomed by 30+ girls who shared similar interests, values, and goals and I knew Alpha Delta Pi was something I needed in my life. College is a scary time for everyone - adjusting to new freedom you’ve never had before, adjusting to classes, finding new friends, getting involved, learning time management and so much more. It is an overwhelming time! Being a part of Alpha Delta Pi has helped me with all of these things. For a late night Cook Out run, movie night, a study session, a Polar Pop run, a sporting event, or a lunch date, a sister is always there. We can count on each other for the big things life brings, the small things life brings, and everything in between.
Not only has ADPi given me the best friends I could ask for, it has also given me an opportunity to grow in who I am. It has given me leadership opportunities that have pushed me to be better, believe in myself, and work with my sisters. The leadership opportunities that I have had in ADPi have also encouraged me to become very involved on our campus.
ADPi has given me the opportunity to be myself, find myself, and grown in who I am as a woman, a friend, and a leader, and it will do the same for your daughter.
Loyally,
Blythe Best
